Two area commercial real estate veterans have left their firms to set up their own real estate development and investment business.

Stewart Stender and Lawrence Pobuda have founded Stewart Lawrence Group, a firm that will pursue opportunities in their combined areas of expertise – office, industrial, health care and multifamily real estate assets.

Stender's previous experience includes co-founding and serving as president of APEX Asset Management. Pobuda was most recently a senior vice president at Bloomington based United Properties, overseeing the company's health care real estate and corporate real estate services groups.

Stender and Pobuda have a long history together. Both began their real estate careers with Trammell Crow – Stender in Chicago in 1982 and Pobuda in 1988, when Stender recruited him to come to Minneapolis.
